Imlil Murder Trial: Victims’ Lawyer Calls Verdicts ’Fair and Equitable’

Khalid Fettaoui, the lawyer for the Danish victim, believes that the Criminal Chamber in charge of Terrorism Cases at the Annexe of the Court of Appeal in Salé has handed down "fair and equitable" sanctions against the accused in the case of the murder of two Scandinavian tourists in the Imlil region (El-Haouz province).
Speaking to the press, Khalid Fettaoui does not hide his state of mind. The lawyer for the Danish victim declares that he is "fully in agreement with the verdict, whether it is the lengths of the custodial sentences, the death penalty or life imprisonment, even if the Court did not order the accused to pay the compensation claimed by the civil party," reports the MAP.
For the lawyer, "the death sentences are not motivated by revenge, but are provided for in the penal code." The lawyer also praised the professionalism and seriousness that characterized the judiciary throughout the trial.
The sentences range from 5 years in prison to the death penalty for the accused in the case of the murder of two Scandinavian tourists in the Imlil region (El-Haouz province). The facts date back to last December.
The defendants were prosecuted on several counts: forming a gang to prepare and commit terrorist acts, intentional assault on the life of persons, possession of firearms and attempted manufacture of explosives, in violation of the law.
