Land Dispute Threatens 2030 World Cup Plans in Casablanca

The land registry services of the Aïn Chock district, in the Casablanca region, are recording hundreds of complaints concerning the ownership of land intended to host infrastructure planned as part of the organization of the 2030 World Cup.
These complaints are filed against a network made up of real estate appraisal firms and civil associations, accused of falsifying documents in the land registration files of the lands.
According to Hespress, this network has blocked permit issuance procedures and the processing of files submitted to the land registry services. This is the case of the project to build a training institute for the benefit of the General Directorate of National Security in the commune of Tit Mellil, or tourism projects in the Aïn Chock district.
The activities of this network have benefited large real estate developers who were seeking to appropriate domains located near the highway leading to Mohammed V airport. The members of this network hide behind real estate consulting and expertise companies as well as fictitious associations to carry out their dirty work.
They do not hesitate to pose as representatives of official institutions to threaten and extort real estate
