King Mohammed VI Launches Ramadan Aid Program for 3 Million Moroccans

Wednesday 6 April 2022, by Ginette

King Mohammed VI proceeded, on Tuesday, to the launch of the 23rd edition of the national "Ramadan 1443" solidarity operation.

It was in the old medina of Rabat that this action was launched. For this Ramadan 2022, this solidarity has mobilized a budget of 103 million dirhams, intended for nearly 3 million people living in 83 provinces and prefectures of Morocco and grouped into 600,000 households, including 459,500 in rural areas. Over the years, the operation has become a much-anticipated event for widows, the elderly and people with disabilities.

The initiative was made possible thanks to the financial support of the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Habous and Islamic Affairs. This year, due to the stability of the epidemiological situation, thousands of people have been mobilized at more than 1,800 distribution points set up throughout the national territory. All measures have been taken to ensure that the donations reach the designated persons, especially since field work has been carried out to identify vulnerable people.

Since its launch in 1998, more than 1.5 billion dirhams have been mobilized for this operation. As for the number of beneficiary families, it has increased from 34,100 in 1998 to 600,000 from 2020 onwards.
