King Mohammed VI Advances Morocco’s Ambitious Renewable Energy Goals

King Mohammed VI chaired on Tuesday at the Royal Cabinet in Rabat a working session on the progress of the renewable energy development program and the new prospects in this field.
This program has allowed "Morocco to assert its regional and global leadership in this major sector of the energy transition," reports the MAP, noting that this meeting is part of the "regular monitoring by the sovereign of the strategic objectives that the Kingdom has set itself in terms of large-scale development of renewable energies, in particular that of bringing the share of these energies to more than 52% of the national electricity mix by 2030."
During this meeting, King Mohammed VI gave his directives to accelerate the development of renewable energies, particularly solar and wind power. Thus, the authorities concerned must activate the realization of the ongoing development projects, as well as capitalize on Morocco’s competitive advantage to attract more national and foreign investments in the sector.
This includes accelerating the realization of the three Noor Midelt solar energy projects that are experiencing delays. The sovereign also gave instructions for the development of an operational and attractive "Morocco Offer" covering the entire value chain of the green hydrogen industry in Morocco, the same source notes.
