Kerry Kennedy Urges Biden to Reverse Trump’s Western Sahara Decision
Kerry Kennedy, president of the Robert Kennedy Center for Human Rights, close to the separatist Aminatou Haidar, calls on the current US President, Joe Biden, to cancel the decree recognizing US sovereignty over the Sahara.
"The Trump administration played with fire," she said in a recent article, suggesting that "for the situation not to deteriorate further, the Biden administration must quickly cancel Trump’s damaging decision on Western Sahara by declaring its disagreement."
Democrat Kerry Kennedy, who positions herself as a defender of the Polisario like Republicans John Bolton, James Baker or James Inhofe, called for the appointment of a new personal envoy of the Secretary-General for the Sahara. This position has remained vacant since the resignation of the German Horst Köhler "for health reasons" in May 2019.
The president of the Robert Kennedy Center for Human Rights also requested the expansion of MINURSO’s mandate to monitor human rights in the Sahara.
