The Kenitra-Marrakech TGV project is making great strides

The National Railway Office (ONCF) is working on the construction project of the high-speed rail line connecting Kenitra to Marrakech. It has just released about 695 million dirhams.

The ONCF is addressing the most urgent needs. The Office has released about 695 million dirhams for railway supply as part of the increase in the capacity of the Kenitra-Marrakech line and the Casablanca hub, which will be directed to the Kenitra and Benguerir stations. This testifies to the continuation of the civil engineering work for the future high-speed line between Kenitra and Marrakech. This new line will be designed for a maximum train speed of 350 km/h, but will be operated at 320 km/h over a length of about 450 km/h. It will pass through both rural and metropolitan areas of Rabat, Salé, Casablanca and Marrakech.

As part of the project, there are planned connection points for the existing lines, with the maintenance center in Kenitra and those that will be set up at the Rabat-Agdal, Ain Sebaa, Bouskoura, and Nouaceur stations, as well as in Settat and Ben Guerir, and finally in Sidi Ghanem, before arriving at the new Marrakech station.

In February, the ONCF launched a consultation to secure the services of a provider in charge of the environmental and social monitoring of the project, spread over approximately 431 kilometers. This provider, who will be paid 10.38 million dirhams, will be responsible for developing an environmental and social management plan, monitoring in particular the management of waste, clearing, groundwater, and other aspects.
