EU Keeps Morocco on Travel Restriction List Amid COVID-19 Surge

The resurgence of new infections has not favored Morocco’s return to the European Union’s list of safe countries. For the second consecutive month, the Kingdom remains on the EU’s red list, alongside the two other Maghreb countries, Algeria and Tunisia.
The Council of the European Union (EU) announced in a press release on Wednesday, October 21, the decision to remove Tunisia from the list of "safe" countries. From now on, the three Maghreb countries are on the list of countries subject to travel restrictions due to the resurgence of coronavirus infection cases.
In addition to Tunisia, Canada and Georgia have also been removed from the list of safe countries, reports AFP. With this new decision, the European "safe countries" list is reduced to 9.
It could increase to 10 members, with the entry of Singapore in the next update scheduled for this Friday. According to AFP, this next update comes after the one in August, which decided on Morocco’s exit from the safe countries.
It should be noted that this list remains just a recommendation from the Commission. In the name of sovereignty, each member country of the area is responsible for the tourists it welcomes on its territory. They are free to open their countries to no traveler.
