Jet-Ski Smugglers Charge €1000 for 3-Minute Spain-Morocco Crossing
To now reach Spain, traffickers transport migrants departing from Ceuta. For a thousand euros, they cover the distance between Morocco and the enclave in three minutes.
Covering the Morocco-Spain route, through Ceuta, in 3 minutes. This is the new technique of traffickers, for the symbolic price of 1000 euros. For leseco.ma, this new means ensures a crossing in complete tranquility, far from the capsizing of clandestine boats. In this way, the migrant and the trafficker find their account. If the former reaches his destination safely, the latter enjoys his large profits. "The crossing only lasts three minutes and does not require much expense. Renting a jet ski in Spain costs three hundred euros for the whole day, while the earnings from a single crossing can reach a thousand euros," the same source assures. For this crossing, Algerian migrants and those from Bangladesh are found at the forefront as candidates.
This mode of crossing has become a reference since its advent. The mafias are further developing this means of transport, due to its profitability and maneuverability, especially in the summer period.
Two Moroccans, who were heading towards the coasts of Melilla by jet ski, were arrested last week by Guardia civil elements. The members of the criminal network, active in illegal immigration, did not hesitate to get rid of them by throwing them into the sea before fleeing.
