Jellyfish Swarm Northern Morocco Beaches, Stinging Tourists as Mediterranean Warms

Several tourists on vacation on the Tangier-Tetouan coast have recently been attacked by jellyfish. Several cases of stings from these marine animals have already been noted at the beginning of the summer season.
The climate changes recorded last year in the Mediterranean region would be at the origin of this invasion of jellyfish this summer season, say some experts who explain that these animals are abandoning the seabed in favor of coastal areas.
Jellyfish are also present in cities like Fnideq or Martil, reports El Faro de Ceuta. Small in size, their sting, whose effects last about a day, causes skin rashes that spread rapidly over the body. These symptoms can be accompanied by muscle contraction and require appropriate care.
Tourists on vacation in the north of the country are therefore invited to be cautious to avoid being stung by jellyfish.
