Italian Woman Rescued After Forced Marriage Attempt in Morocco

Arrived in Marrakech for an arranged marriage, an Italian national found herself kidnapped by the host family, in inhuman conditions.
According to Italian media, the tourist, in her forties, had been persuaded by a Moroccan national in Italy to enter into a white marriage with her 20-year-old brother in Marrakech, in exchange for 50,000 dirhams.
A disagreement led the two parties to cancel the initial agreement. But this option was not to the liking of the Moroccan family who decided to kidnap the Italian citizen for several weeks, forcing her to sign the marriage contract.
It took the intervention of the police services to free the Italian hostage from the grip of her tormentors. An investigation has been opened to determine the circumstances of this kidnapping.
