Issa Diop says "Yes" to Morocco to live the American dream

Issa Diop has officially opted for the Moroccan selection. The Fulham defender, born in Toulouse and a former French youth international, now aims to compete in the 2026 World Cup under the colors of the Kingdom of Morocco.

The 29-year-old central defender, revealed at Toulouse before joining England in 2018, is about to embark on a new international chapter. After shining at West Ham, he has been playing for Fulham for the past four years, where he is under contract until 2027, according to Footmercato.

This season, Issa Diop has participated in 15 matches in all competitions with the Cottagers, totaling 1,043 minutes of play. His solid performances have attracted the attention of several clubs this winter, particularly in Turkey, but it is on the international level that the player has made his choice.

Born in 1997 to a Moroccan mother and a Senegalese father, the footballer has finally accepted the advances of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF). This choice puts an end to several years of solicitation from Morocco to attract the former French youth international.

The reinforcement is of great importance for the Atlas Lions. Issa Diop could even feature in the next selection list if the administrative formalities related to his change of sporting nationality are finalized in time to prepare for the upcoming global events.
