Israeli Diplomat in Morocco Faces Sanctions for Sexual Harassment Allegations

Accused of sexual harassment since 2022, David Govrin, head of the Israeli liaison office in Rabat, appeared before a disciplinary hearing. Marc Attali, currently minister plenipotentiary at the Israeli embassy in France, is expected to succeed him.
David Govrin has not completely gotten off the hook. He is "accused of sexual harassment, ethical breaches and illegal taking of interests" and appeared before a disciplinary hearing, according to the Israeli public radio, KAN. His appearance follows a report from the Inspection of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It investigated the serious allegations affecting Moroccan victims. The Israeli diplomat must therefore face sanctions. The same source will specify that he was subjected to increased control and regular visits to his office in Morocco. He is also required to maintain a strict separation between his professional activities and those of his wife. But the person concerned defends himself against the accusations, in turn accusing the head of security of the Rabat office of being behind it. He denounces an "internal conflict" and denies all the accusations against him. Furthermore, in a correspondence addressed to his hierarchy, he denied all the accusations and denounced "reprisals".
David Govrin had been recalled to Tel Aviv for the purposes of an investigation by the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Alona Fisher Kamm, former ambassador to Serbia and Shaï Cohen, have served as interim during his absence. Last July, he returned to Rabat where he resumed his post. Recently, official sources in Tel Aviv confided to Maroc Hebdo that Marc Attali, currently minister plenipotentiary at the Israeli embassy in France, is expected to take the reins of this diplomatic representation.
