Israeli Diplomat Returns to Morocco After Clearing Harassment Investigation

David Govrin, the head of the Israeli liaison office in Rabat, is making an official comeback after being recalled in September 2022 to face accusations of sexual harassment and nepotism. The official has been cleared after an investigation.
Govrin announced his return in a message on Twitter, where he expresses his joy at returning to Morocco, which he considers his "second country". His mission is to strengthen and enhance the ties between Israel and Morocco. Govrin had been recalled to Tel Aviv for the purposes of an investigation by the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and it was Alona Fisher Kamm, former ambassador to Serbia, and Shaï Cohen who had taken over the interim during his absence.
The relations between Morocco and Israel are not linked to specific individuals, but are based on "continuity through diplomatic cooperation," stresses the Israeli diplomat. Before his appointment in Rabat in February 2021, David Govrin held a series of positions within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs related to the Middle East and was Israel’s ambassador to Egypt.
The announcement of his return was made during a press conference organized on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Hebrew state by the head of mission at the Israeli liaison office in Rabat, Shaï Cohen.
