Israeli Conductor and Moroccan Pilot Unite to Revive Andalusian Music in Jerusalem

The national airline Royal Air Maroc (RAM) launched on Sunday the Casablanca/Tel-Aviv air link. A week earlier, the Moroccan pilot of this flight was in Israel to share his love for Andalusian music with the Jerusalem East & West Orchestra.
In Israel, Israeli conductor Tom Cohen and Moroccan pilot Karim Taiser, founder of the Moroccan Symphony Orchestra, are honoring ancient Andalusian music through the Jerusalem East & West Orchestra. "To have all these things I dreamed of... come to life, to see all these people come together to play, it’s a dream come true," Tom Cohen told i24NEWS. "We’re trying to musically take it to a new place, but it’s not a revolution, it’s an evolution."
Andalusian music has spanned the ages. It encompasses traditional and modern musical genres originating from the Andalusian region of southern Spain. "When we talk about Andalusian music, we’re talking about the music that was created in the golden age, when Jews and Muslims lived and created together. [...] "This music at the origin is music made of coexistence," continued the Israeli conductor.
