Israeli Airline Sun d’Or Delays Marrakech Flights, Cancels Service Through December 15
The Tel Aviv–Marrakech route announced for November has hit another setback. El Al is postponing the launch of flights by its subsidiary Sun d’Or and cancelling departures scheduled through December 15. Passengers who have booked can get a refund or choose an alternative.

A full refund, a credit for a future trip or a ticket to another European destination: Sun d’Or customers now have three options. For those who prefer to change their destination, El Al will cover any fare differences and airport taxes.
This option applies to flights operated by El Al or Sun d’Or within three days before or after the original departure date, subject to availability. The specialist outlet PassportNews details the terms following the Israeli carrier’s announcement on Thursday, October 22.
Sun d’Or was due to launch its direct route between Tel Aviv and Marrakech on November 16. El Al has postponed the launch and cancelled the scheduled flights through December 15, The Times of Israel reports. The airline is continuing discussions with Israeli authorities to obtain the necessary security approvals.
Three airlines change plans for Marrakech
The latest postponement follows successive suspensions of ticket sales by Israir and Arkia. Israir had frozen its plan to increase flights to Marrakech on October 13. Arkia suspended new bookings on October 21, despite already serving the ochre city since August.
The measures respond to new requirements from Israeli security services, particularly for airlines using leased aircraft with foreign crews. They were tightened after the incident on September 30 aboard a Flydubai aircraft flying from Dubai to Tel Aviv.
The difference is now clear for passengers: Arkia is still reviewing the fate of its existing bookings, while Sun d’Or has directly cancelled tickets affected by its postponement.
Less than a month ago, the three airlines had planned to expand air links to Morocco. For Sun d’Or, the next step now depends on approvals requested from Israeli security authorities.
