Israeli Flights Resume Marrakech Route August 24

Israeli airline Arkia will resume direct flights to Marrakech starting August 24. Two weekly rotations are planned, following a suspension linked to the security situation triggered by the October 7, 2023 attack in Israel.

Marrakech will regain direct flights from Arkia from Israel. The Israeli airline announced the resumption of its service to the ochre city this summer, with two flights per week starting August 24.

According to JNS, tickets will be offered starting at 329 dollars for a one-way fare. El Al airline has not yet resumed its flights to Morocco.

This resumption is being closely followed by tourism professionals in Israel. Yoni Waxman, vice-president of Ophir Tours, calls it "excellent news" and states that demand for Marrakech is already very strong.

A Still Fragile Recovery

For Israeli travel agencies, Marrakech remains a highly sought-after destination, particularly among Israelis of Moroccan origin. In 2022, approximately 200,000 Israelis traveled to Morocco, many for trips related to their family roots.

The resumption occurs, however, in an unstable regional context. Industry professionals note that maintaining the route will also depend on the security situation around Israel.

Arkia is therefore reopening an important route between Israel and Morocco, without the full return of air connections between the two countries being assured yet.
