Israel’s Top Diplomat in Morocco Departs; Former Envoy Expected to Return

The Israeli liaison office in Morocco announced the end of the functions of its head, Alona Fisher Kamm, without mentioning a successor. Fisher Kamm had taken up her duties in September last year, succeeding the former head of the office David Govrin... who should resume his post.
In a tweet, the Israeli liaison office stated that Fisher Kamm "is completing her mission in Morocco and takes the opportunity to share with you thanks and farewells after spending more than 6 months in the Kingdom of Morocco". According to the tweet, Fisher Kamm expressed her gratitude to the country, stating that "the impact of Morocco will accompany me forever".
She also said she had discovered the Jewish heritage throughout the country, as well as the values of coexistence and tolerance between religions for which Morocco has long been known, stressing that she is proud of the achievements and relationships developed between the two countries in all areas.
On December 10, 2020, Israel and Morocco announced the resumption of their diplomatic relations, after their suspension in 2000. No information has been provided on the reasons for the end of Fisher Kamm’s duties and the appointment of a successor for the time being. Israeli public television had announced the return of David Govrin, but Morocco could veto it.
