US Invests $170,000 to Restore Ancient Fortress in Morocco's Al Hoceima National Park

$170,000. This is the amount invested by the United States in a restoration project for Torres Al Kalaa, a fortress dating back to the 23rd century, located in the Al Hoceima National Park.

This funding is part of the strengthening of management and promotion capacities of national parks in Morocco, according to a press release from the US Embassy in Morocco, noting that a seminar was organized in this regard, on the exploitation of national parks, in order to tell the cultural and historical heritage of the kingdom.

This meeting was attended by officials from the Moroccan Ministry of Culture, members of the GEODE association, Moroccan experts and an American delegation led by Lorren Yellow Bird, a forest ranger from the U.S. National Park Service, the same source specifies.

During these exchanges, the American professional shared his experience with Moroccan specialists in charge of cultural heritage preservation, national park management, tourism and related fields.

To recall, the Torres Al Kalaa project is financed by the Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFPC), a program of the American department that has contributed over the past two decades, to the tune of more than one million dollars, to cultural preservation in Morocco. The restoration of the Kabah El Mediha in Kenitra and that of the mosaics of Volubilis are among the projects that have benefited from this funding.
