Investigation Refutes Claims of Firefighter Delays in Fatal Sidi Allal Bahraoui Blaze

We now know a little more about the tragedy of Hiba in Sidi Allal Bahraoui in which a child had died trapped in her apartment. The investigation conducted by the Ministry of the Interior delivers its first results.

After inspecting the Firefighters’ Intervention Register, the Commission refutes the allegations related to the delay of this intervention unit. It is now clear that the firefighters’ intervention lasted a total of 7 minutes. After the chronology of events, the Commission looked at the extinguishing operation. It deduced that the intervention team used a state-of-the-art vehicle, which was in excellent condition, thus dismissing the accusations about the poor condition of the vehicle used.

Moreover, the tanker of the fire engine was filled with water, contrary to certain assertions. This fact was also confirmed by certain video sequences showing the use of fire hoses in the extinguishing operation. The Commission also argues that the smoke could have asphyxiated the little girl before the fire even reached her. However, it deplores the criminal behavior of certain people present at the scene of the fire, who prevented the firefighters from doing their job. This behavior caused a drop in pressure, thus weakening the water jets from the fire hoses.

The statement from the Ministry of the Interior also noted that some people contacted number 155, believing they were alerting the firefighters. They claimed that this telephone line was out of area, forgetting that the official emergency number is associated with numbers 15 and 150.
