Investigation Launched into Fatal Police Chase in Brussels

The Brussels public prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation following the death of Adil in a police chase, on Friday around 9:00 pm in Anderlecht. The investigation will determine the exact circumstances of the accident.
"An investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of the accident. The public prosecutor’s office has requested the federal police laboratory, a forensic doctor and an automotive expert on site," said Willemien Baert, spokeswoman for the Brussels public prosecutor’s office, to Belga.
According to her, the accident occurred on the Quai de l’Industrie in Anderlecht, on Friday, around 9:00 pm. "A police patrol from the Brussels-Midi zone had chased two scooters after they had accelerated at the sight of the police, at the level of the Place du Conseil," she explained.
"Another police patrol, called in as backup, then arrived by car in the opposite direction, on the Quai de l’Industrie. One of the scooters overtook a van and thus found itself facing the police vehicle, which it collided with," the spokeswoman specified.
