Interpol Fugitive from Morocco Arrested in Spain, Facing 22-Year Sentence

A Moroccan, wanted by Interpol for ill-treatment, theft, sexual assault and threats in Morocco, was arrested in Bilbao (Basque Country), during a joint operation carried out by the national police and the local police.
The fugitive had settled in the San Francisco (Bilbado) neighborhood to escape Moroccan justice, which was looking for him to sentence him to 22 years in prison for various crimes. He was arrested by a municipal police patrol who identified him on the street, reports El Correo.

His fingerprints were checked at the police headquarters, which confirmed his identity. After these checks, he was transferred to the National High Court where the judge ordered his detention, pending his extradition to Morocco.
