International Soccer Stars Targeted: Gang Behind Benzema Home Burglary Arrested in Spain

The Spanish Civil Guard has dismantled a network specialized in burglary. It is an Albanian group that carries out burglaries in the homes of international football players, including that of Karim Benzema.

The network has a real record for having distinguished itself in the burglary of several homes of international footballers, at the moment when the latter are on the field, playing matches, reports Paris Match.

According to a statement from the Civil Guard, during an operation led under the aegis of the European Union’s Criminal Police Agency, Europol, four members of the gang were arrested.

They are three Albanians and a Spanish receiver. Meanwhile, the fifth member who escaped the police is the subject of an international arrest warrant.

To carry out their heists, Europol indicates that these burglars follow the players on social networks, inform themselves of their schedules and take action when they are on the field to play matches.

This is how the police were able to record 14 cases of theft to the credit of the gang, committed in several regions including Madrid, Castile, Leon and Asturias.

According to the same source, the burglars have notably set their sights on players from the professional league, such as those from Real Madrid or Atlético de Madrid.

While the police have not officially released the names of the players who were victims of these theft cases, the Spanish press, for its part, has revealed some names, including the Frenchman Karim Benzema and the Brazilian Carlos Casemiro, who are among the victims.

It should be noted that thanks to searches carried out in Madrid and Toledo, among others, the Spanish police recovered several luxury cars stolen by the members of the network, the same source said.
