Internal Rift Rocks Moroccan Human Rights Association AMDH

Rift within the Administrative Committee of the Moroccan Association of Human Rights (AMDH). 17 of its members have just addressed a letter to some of the association’s officials.
In a letter dated October 9, 2020, 17 signatories, members of the AMDH Administrative Committee and affiliated with the Party of the Democratic and Socialist Vanguard, explain that this is in reaction to the lack of response from the AMDH Administrative Committee, following their protests expressed at previous meetings.
They denounce, among other things, the non-respect of the association’s decision not to participate in activities organized by certain religious groups; the selective nature and the double standards in inviting activists to international events; opaque management of the association’s finances.
The rebels blame the administrative committee for interfering in files unrelated to human rights; the defamation of many complainants, thus undermining the credibility of the association; the unfortunate tendency to want to put on the coat of a systematic opponent of the regime.
On the freedom of the press, the AMDH is accused of unconditional bias in favor of Touafik Bouachrine, going so far as to refuse to hear his alleged victims of rape and sexual abuse.
In the case opposing Omar Radi to Hafsa Boutahar who accuses him of rape, when the latter informed the AMDH of her complaint, contrary to all expectations, the association informed Omar Radi of the content of said complaint, a serious fault for an association supposed to be devoted to the defense of human rights.
