Indian Steel Giant JSW to Supply Rails for Morocco’s High-Speed Train Project

The National Railway Office (ONCF) has just awarded the Indian steel giant JSW Steel the supply of rails for the future high-speed train (TGV) connecting Kénitra to Marrakech.
The Indian company has managed to stand out during the tender launched as part of this high-speed line, which should be ready by 2029, a year before Morocco hosts the 2030 World Cup alongside Portugal and Spain.
The Kénitra-Marrakech TGV project, a key element of ONCF’s vast railway modernization plan, aims to transform the connections between these two major cities. With a top speed of 350 km/h, this high-speed line is part of a national network interconnecting cities, ports and airports, for an estimated investment of more than 50 billion dirhams.
A few weeks ago, ONCF entrusted six companies with the clearing and preparation work of the Kénitra-Marrakech HSL route, at a cost of around 146 million dirhams, with an execution period set at 14 months. The work is divided into five lots.
