India’s Soccer Captain Looks to Morocco’s World Cup Success as Inspiration for Asian Cup

The World Cup run of the Moroccan football team is inspiring. This is the case for the captain of the Indian team who wants to take the Atlas Lions as an example for the next international matches of his team.
Morocco has beaten renowned teams such as Belgium, Spain and Portugal, allowing it to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup in Qatar. This run is making the captain of the Indian team, Sunil Chhetri, dream. He is preparing for the AFC (Asian Football Confederation) Asian Cup.

Facing heavyweight opponents such as Australia, Syria and Uzbekistan, all better ranked in the FIFA ranking, the Indian team is looking for inspiration from Morocco.
"In modern football, many teams considered underdogs have shown us. One name that comes to mind is Morocco. And if you’re a good team, you can make things difficult for other teams. And that’s our first goal. On paper, it seems a little tougher than last time," Chhetri said at a press conference.
