An improvised preacher "haramizes" the Barça jersey
The influencer Savage Petrov declared, in a video published Tuesday on TikTok, that wearing the FC Barcelona jersey is haram (sin) due to the presence of a cross in the crest of the Catalan club.
"If you are Muslim, you obviously cannot wear symbols of idolatry," Savage Petrov replied to the question of an internet user who asked if "it is haram to wear a Barça jersey".
The preacher argues by referring to a detail on the jersey of the Catalan club: the Cross of St. George, the symbol of the city of Barcelona, which appears on the FC Barcelona crest. "The official jersey bears the symbol of idolatry here [on the chest]," he insists.
Savage Petrov continues: "You wouldn’t buy a giant cross to hang up and go for a walk, don’t wear a T-shirt with a cross on it either... Do you want to represent Islam or idolatry? The sheitan ("devil") has trapped you."
Born in Bulgaria and raised in Spain, in Baix Llobregat (Barcelona), he now lives in Morocco. Savage Petrov is known for his radicalism. He is very followed on social networks where he has 456,000 subscribers on Instagram alone.
