Illegal Immigrant Arrested for Arson at Bastia’s Historic Citadel
Suspected of being the source of a fire that broke out at the foot of the Citadel of Bastia, at the southern entrance to the city’s tunnel, an irregularly-staying Moroccan was arrested by a patrol of riot police and taken into custody.
The events took place during the night of Thursday, August 21 to Friday, August 22. A fire broke out at the foot of the Citadel of Bastia, at the southern entrance to the city’s tunnel. A Moroccan staying in France illegally is suspected of being the perpetrator. He will be apprehended by a riot police unit during a patrol, then taken into custody, reports Corse Matin.
The individual was intoxicated at the time of his arrest. He denies the accusations against him. In parallel with the ongoing legal proceedings, the illegal immigrant has been issued an order to leave French territory (OQTF).
