Hundreds Rally in Cartagena Against Anti-Moroccan Racism After Fatal Attack

Hundreds of people responded on Sunday to the call to demonstrate launched by the Stop Racism platform to denounce racist and xenophobic acts and crimes in the Murcia region.
The demonstrations against racism initiated by the Stop Racism platform in the Murcia region were launched after the death of Younes Bilal, the young Moroccan victim of a racist crime in Mazarrón on Sunday, June 13. Several representatives of associations and political parties including Podemos took part in these demonstrations, reports La Opinion de Murcia.

"In Cartagena, they stab people out of pure racist hatred and in other parts of the peninsula, there are similar attacks. These are not isolated events; it is racial hatred, and the culprits sit in councils and opinion forums," the demonstrators in Cartagena said on Sunday.
The demonstration also saw the participation of PSOE (Socialist Party) representatives such as the general secretary of the port city. He indicated on this occasion that "racist behaviors have no place in 21st century societies", adding that "racism and xenophobia manifest themselves through physical aggression, but also in common issues such as language or discrimination in the hiring of migrants".
