Hospital Employee Arrested in Casablanca for Alleged Medical Certificate Fraud Scheme

An employee of Hassani Hospital was referred, on Monday, to the Attorney General at the Court of First Instance in Casablanca, for his alleged involvement in a traffic of complicit medical certificates.
According to the daily Assabah, at the time of his arrest, which took place on Friday, following a trap set by the judicial police of Hay Hassani, the suspect had in his possession a large quantity of signed medical certificates ready to be used.
Doubts still remain about the involvement of the hospital’s doctors, whose names appear on the certificates, adds the newspaper. An investigation has been opened to determine the responsibilities, knowing that several complaints had already been filed in this regard.
These certificates can weigh heavily in ongoing cases or insurance compensation files. Innocent people have found themselves on the dock overnight on the sole presentation of a false medical certificate.
