Al Hoceima Launches Controversial Sweep of Homeless and Mentally Ill

The authorities in Al Hoceima are conducting a cleanliness campaign to rid the city of beggars and the mentally ill in order to strengthen security and improve the quality of life for residents.
In collaboration with the security services, the local authorities have combed several key areas of the city where they proceeded to arrest and transfer beggars to appropriate centers for their care. Similarly, the mentally ill wandering the streets have been transferred to specialized hospitals to receive the necessary medical care.
This operation, which is part of a comprehensive strategy to strengthen the security of the city, will continue in the coming weeks, the authorities say, who have invited the residents to collaborate with the administration for the success of this campaign by reporting any cases of begging or the presence of wandering mentally ill people in the streets.
