Handcuffed Man Critically Injured in Escape Attempt from Casablanca Police Station

Saturday 29 June 2019, by Amine

A handcuffed individual allegedly tried to flee a police station in Casablanca by jumping from the second floor. His fall caused him several very serious fractures.

A man in his thirties was very seriously injured in a fall from the second floor of a police station in Hay Moulay Rachid, in the economic capital, Casablanca. He had to be taken to the hospital and his condition is very critical, according to the media Assabah, which reports this information.

The brutality of this fall, while he was handcuffed, was such that he was taken to the Moulay Rachid hospital, which declared itself incompetent to treat him. The patient was taken to the emergency room of the Ibn Rochd hospital. There, he was admitted to intensive care. He could have lost his life in this attempted escape, still according to the same source.

The police station in question has been in turmoil since then. Several security officials have gone there, with the aim, among other things, of triggering and conducting an internal investigation to determine exactly what happened and what this person was trying to flee. Then, it will be a matter of defining the responsibilities in this case.

It should be noted that the individual in question was the subject of several arrest warrants, for several reasons, including violent theft. He had been arrested on Monday, June 24, thanks to a trap set for him by the police. He would have been taken to an office on the second floor to further investigate his case.

He will undergo surgery and is under permanent police surveillance at the hospital. Assabah adds that the law enforcement authorities are waiting for him to recover so that they can question him about his crazy escape attempt, before bringing him before the Attorney General.
