Moroccan Drug Suspect Dies in Custody After Multiple Hospital Transfers

Held in custody, he was taken to the hospital twice from the police station. But he died the second time, in the ambulance. This is the story of a 24-year-old man, pursued for several offenses including drug trafficking, in Témara.
A 24-year-old repeat offender, arrested for drug trafficking, drunkenness and possession of a bladed weapon, just died on Monday, July 1, 2019, on board an ambulance taking him from the police station to the hospital, due to a malaise he suffered, according to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN). He had been placed in custody in Témara on Sunday, June 30, 2019.
On the indicated day, around 8:00 p.m., he would have suffered a first malaise that required his transfer to the hospital. After receiving the necessary care, the same source specifies that he was taken back to the police station.
But the man did not survive the second malaise, which occurred the next day, in the morning, around 10 a.m. He therefore died on board the ambulance tasked with transporting him to the hospital, to be treated again, still according to the DGSN statement.
The body was taken to the morgue for an autopsy, in order to determine the exact cause of death. An investigation has been opened in this direction by the Judicial Police Brigade of Témara, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office.
