A tragedy occurred in Nanterre last weekend. A 38-year-old man, employed in a grocery store on the Place de la Boule, is suspected of having fatally assaulted Ali, 23, a "helpful and uneventful" young man.
A 38-year-old man, employed in a grocery store, is suspected of having stabbed Ali, a 23-year-old man, several times during the night from Saturday to Sunday, on the Place de la Boule, reports Le Parisien. According to the same source, the alleged perpetrator of the murder surrendered to the police on Monday, December 2, less than 48 hours after the fatal assault.
Admitted to the emergency department of the Max Fourestier hospital, this young man from the Pablo-Picasso neighborhood did not survive. His death caused emotion, disappointment and incomprehension in the city. Some residents describe Ali as a "helpful and uneventful" boy. According to them, he was unfortunately in the "wrong place at the wrong time".
For Mohamed, a figure in the neighborhood, the deceased was a lovely kid, appreciated by everyone, who never looked for trouble. "He apparently tried to intervene in an altercation and that’s when he was stabbed. In the neighborhood, all those who knew him are devastated," he said.
Ali dies without having fulfilled his dream of going to Hajj. "It was one of his dreams, Ali was very religious and religion proved important to him. To pay tribute to him, we will try to send someone there in his place...," said a close friend.
