Global Shipping Giants Join Moroccan Firm in Tanger Med Port Expansion

Tanger Med is attracting global groups. Yesterday, the Moroccan group Marsa Maroc announced the entry into the capital of one of its Moroccan subsidiaries of two international groups.
Thus, a joint venture agreement was signed on March 15, providing for the arrival of the companies Eurogate International GmbH and Contship Italia S.p.A in the capital of the Marsa Maroc subsidiary, Marsa International Tangier Terminals S.A. (MINTT).
The MINTT company is the concessionaire for the design, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of Container Terminal 3 of the extension of the Port of Tanger Med, reads a press release published by the group, recalling that this terminal has a nominal capacity of 1.5 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units). Its commissioning is scheduled for mid-2020.
It also specifies that the Competition Council gave its approval on January 31 to this merger, while adding that the finalization of this operation is subject to the completion of the capital increase planned for this purpose.
Note that Contship Italia is a company specialized in intermodal services.
