Germany Dominates Morocco 6-0 in Women’s World Cup Opener
The Moroccan team, the Lionesses of the Atlas, had a difficult start to the World Cup. They were defeated by the powerful German team with a clear score of 6-0 in the match played on Monday, July 24, 2023.
Germany, physically strong and formidable in attack, quickly gained the upper hand over the Moroccan players. In the first half, two goals were scored by player Alexandra Popp, allowing the Germans to comfortably take the lead.
In the second half, Klara Buhl added a third goal to her team before the outcome of the match was definitively sealed by two own goals from Moroccan players Hanane Ait El Haj and Zineb Redouani, and a final goal in the last minutes signed Lea Shueller.
The Lionesses of the Atlas’ next match is scheduled for Sunday, July 30. They will then face the South Korean team for the second round of the World Cup.
