German Tourist Stabbed in Phone Theft Attempt on Agadir Beach, Morocco

Operators of sunbeds and parasols continue to dictate their law to tourists. Recently, a German tourist was the victim of an armed assault on Agadir beach.
An individual operating "anarchic sunbeds and parasols" assaulted a German tourist with a knife on Agadir beach during an attempt to steal his phone. This knife attack has sparked outrage and concern. In the eyes of Agadir’s community activists, such practices directly harm Morocco’s tourist image and make visitors lose their sense of security and comfort.
The proliferation of groups exploiting chairs and parasols to occupy vast portions of public beaches indeed prevents citizens and tourists from using them without paying sums of money. A pure flagrant violation of the law and a manifest exploitation of the public domain. Faced with this situation, Agadir activists
call for the need to coordinate with local authorities to intensify surveillance and take firm measures to ensure the safety of beaches and organize their exploitation according to the law.
Also, they demanded urgent and firm intervention from the authorities to restore order on the beaches and put an end to these manifestations harmful to the country’s image, especially as the summer season approaches and the number of foreign tourists increases, in order to prevent such incidents from happening again.
