German Tourist Embraces Extended Stay in Luxurious, Empty Moroccan Resort Amid Travel Restrictions

While the Covid-19 pandemic has angered several tourists stranded in Morocco, this is not the case for a German national. Charmed by Moroccan hospitality, and especially a 5-star hotel in Agadir, the man does not seem in a hurry to return home.
Hans-Georg Baldszun, a 67-year-old German retiree, can’t believe it. He was given a double room and abundant meals for the modest sum of 500 dirhams per night. In a statement to the German website Bild.de, the tourist, who spends a short stay in southern Morocco every year, admits that he wants to extend his vacation by a few weeks.
This time, things are different, he confides. As the sole guest of a beachfront hotel with 450 rooms, Hans-Georg is enjoying VIP treatment. "Lunch facing the sea with various fish and salad varieties and a bottle of white wine, while the world is in crisis, an experience I won’t soon forget," he added.
"This year, I was entitled to a dream stay at an exceptional price," said the German tourist, who has decided to invest his savings in the discovery of new exotic lands. Hans-Georg has even set foot on Moroccan sand, more precisely Dakhla, the lagoon of leisure and kitesurfing.
