Gad Elmaleh Organizes Benefit Show for Morocco Earthquake Victims

In an interview, Moroccan comedian Gad Elmaleh talks about his show in solidarity with the victims of the violent and devastating earthquake that occurred in Morocco on the night of September 8-9, scheduled for October 2 at the Dôme du Palais des Sports in Paris.
Where did the idea of organizing a show, simply titled Show Solidarité Maroc (Morocco Solidarity Show) after the powerful earthquake that mourned the Moroccan people come from? "It’s a very particular desire, in the sense that, with Roman Freyssinet, Redouane Bougheraba and Bouder, we said to ourselves: ’But what can we do?’ Stories on Instagram? Write ’thoughts’ or ’prayers’? It’s nice but at some point you have to get moving," Gad Elmaleh recounts, in a video call from his home, on i24 News in the show Les Grandes Gueules du Moyen-Orient on Thursday, September 28. He will explain: "What we do best is our job. To give it. We will never laugh against, or if we do, it’s against tears, against tragedy. We show that we are trying to continue to live, to have hope."
The comedian promises to transfer the proceeds of the show to Morocco. "Of course we will pay tribute. We won’t set aside what’s happening, on the tragic and sad aspect of it. But I want to connect with the audience, to remind them why they are there, what will be done with the money and how it will be transferred to this fund," he testified, also hailing the resilience of the Moroccans. They "continue to live with their daily lives, their difficulties, their spirit, their humor, their desire to live, and their hope": "It’s not just the people who died, the people who are injured. It’s the whole of Morocco that is wounded, that is in distress. The wave of solidarity has been incredibly exemplary," he rejoiced.
