Gad Elmaleh's Claude Nougaro Tribute Performance Sparks Online Backlash

Invited on the set of C à Vous on France 5 to present a live version of his new album Dansez sur moi, in tribute to Claude Nougaro, Gad Elmaleh delivered at the end of the show a cover of Armstrong, to the great dismay of the Internet users. They gave him a whole bouquet of bad reviews on Twitter.

The comedian discovered the great artist at the age of 6, in Morocco. "I lived in Casablanca and my uncle had a turntable," he recalls. "One day I heard Armstrong, it was a revelation," explains Gad Elmaleh, whom the Internet users did not fail to tell that he, rather failed to reveal himself.

"No but ?! I zap and fall on Gad who sings (my God...) and on top of that a cover! " "Poor Nougaro! He didn’t deserve that." "Especially coming from him, the top of plagiarism. It took guts!" "It’s really very very but very bad"...

Just a few samples that reflect the sentiment of Internet users after the performance of the comedian who has finally decided to take the plunge into music, the very first of his dreams, long before the art of making the public laugh took over.

An audience to whom the artist will release on November 20, 2020, his first album of covers of Claude Nougaro entitled Dansez sur moi, to declare his love for the Toulouse icon, Gad Elmaleh said in an interview with La dépêche du Midi.
