Comedian Gad Elmaleh to Release Album Covering Claude Nougaro Songs

The Moroccan artist Gad Elmaleh will make his entry into the music scene on January 29, with an album of covers of Claude Nougaro’s songs. Invited on Friday, January 1 on Info soir de 2M, the comedian, in a live from Paris, made some confidences about this musical project that he has taken the time to refine during the confinement.

It was in a convivial atmosphere that Gad Elmaleh looked back on this album that is causing a lot of talk both on the web and in the music world. But for the artist, the release of this album is the culmination of a childhood dream. A fan of Claude Nougaro since his youngest age, he chose to pay tribute to him with this album entitled "Dansez sur moi".

Gad Elmaleh confides that his entire youth was lulled by the creations of Claude Nougaro, a Toulouse artist who is no longer of this world. He also pointed out that those who saw him grow up expected him to become a singing artist, not a comedian. Moreover, Gad Elmaleh confesses that the first thing he bought when he had money was a piano, more precisely a Steinway.

The interpreter of "chouchou" does not expect to be applauded like a virtuoso of song. He even expects very harsh criticism when the album is released. But their virulence could not slow down his momentum. He says he has a real passion for music, even if he did not make it his first choice of profession.

During his intervention on 2M, the artist came back to the relationship he has with his mother and how the confinement helped him to strengthen these ties. "I especially learned to talk to my mother. I call her morning and evening. I finally ask her the real questions about my childhood, about my relationship with my father," he confided, satisfied to have been able to extract from this time of chaos generated by the pandemic, something strong for his personal life. "We have done a great introspection together. The urgency created by the situation has allowed us to realize the importance of talking to each other. As if it were the last time each time," he explained.

Finally, he invited Moroccans to protect themselves against Covid-19 by respecting the preventive measures put in place by the authorities. "The virus continues to rage and we must take care of ourselves," he stressed before wishing all Moroccans who accompany him, who support him, his best wishes for the new year 2021.
