Fuel Prices in Morocco Surge Past 16 Dirhams, May Hit 20 Dirhams per Liter

Constantly rising for several weeks, the cost of fuel continues to soar. In recent days, pump prices have exceeded the 16 dirhams/liter threshold. Motorists dread the worst.
Will the price of a liter of gasoline reach 20 dirhams? This is a question that remains unanswered for the time being among users, who are powerless to witness this surge in fuel prices.
In just three months, the price of gasoline has skyrocketed at the pump, going from 14.18 dirhams/liter to 16 dirhams/liter in recent days. This price could even largely exceed this bar according to government spokesman Mustapha Baitas who had hinted that the ongoing rise in fuel prices in Morocco will undoubtedly continue this trend.
This situation is attributable to the "strong demand" for energy products combined with the Ukrainian crisis and the refusal of OPEC countries to increase their production in order to push barrel prices down, explained the specialists.
However, it could improve due to the commitments made by the latter who revealed that "the oil production for July would be adjusted upwards by 648,000 barrels per day", knowing that the quantity was set at 432,000 barrels in the previous months.
