French U21 Squad Includes Moroccan-Origin Midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi for Euro 2025

Ayyoub Bouaddi is included in the preliminary list of 29 players selected by Gérald Baticle, coach of the French U21 team, for Euro 2025 which begins in just over three weeks. Has the young player of Moroccan origin let down the Atlas Lions?
The French U21 team, whose only triumph dates back to 1988, will face Portugal (Friday, June 11, 9 PM), Georgia (Monday, June 14, 9 PM), and Poland (Thursday, June 17, 6 PM) during the group stage.
The squad will gather at Clairefontaine from Monday, May 26. A friendly match is scheduled against Uzbekistan on Friday, June 4 in Orléans, before departing for Slovakia, the host country of the competition. The final list will then be reduced to 23 players.
This call-up comes as Ayyoub Bouaddi has expressed his desire to represent Morocco. According to sources, his final decision is expected in June. During this month, the Moroccan team will play friendly matches against Tunisia and Benin, in preparation for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations to be held in Morocco.
Walid Regragui, the Moroccan coach, recently spoke about this matter at a press conference: "Of course, Bouaddi is one of the greatest future players on the world football scene, and we are doing everything for him to come with us. The day he is with us, we will be happy. For now, my focus is on the players present."
