French Travelers Eye Marrakech Despite Rising Costs for Summer 2023 Getaways

62% of French people say they want to treat themselves to a vacation this summer 2023, compared to 60% in 2022, according to a study by Liligo in collaboration with the polling institute OpinionWay. The city of Marrakech is among the top 10 destinations for the French, but it will cost more to go there.
The chosen destinations are mainly abroad, with an increase of two points compared to the previous summer, where 44% of travelers will target international destinations. On the other hand, 64% have decided to stay in France (-1 point).
The Liligo search engine reveals that Montreal is the favorite destination of the French, with a round trip on average at 724 €, followed by Ajaccio (203 €) and Lisbon and Porto, cities with more advantageous prices than Corsica (162 € and 168 € respectively).
Marrakech is in sixth place among the most popular destinations for summer vacations but at what price? the average ticket price is up 24% compared to last year, now reaching 281 €. This also represents an 11% increase compared to 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic.
