French Senator Launches Fundraiser for Controversial Anti-Islamist Journalist

Bruno Retailleau has no intention of letting go of Zineb El Rhazoui, the former "Charlie Hebdo" journalist and figure in the fight against political Islam, whose recent statements have sparked a lively controversy on social networks. The boss of the Les Républicains senators has chosen Twitter to launch a support kitty for the Franco-Moroccan journalist on Friday, November 15.

The "fight against Islamic totalitarianism" has "an enormous cost", according to Bruno Retailleau who, on Friday morning, gave the green light for a substantial mobilization of the Les Républicains senators to support the journalist who lives under permanent police protection.

"In agreement with Zineb El Rhazoui who must face heavy charges to continue to prosecute those who threaten her, we are launching with the senator Jacqueline Eustache-Brinio a kitty to support her. Thank you to those who can help her in this fight," tweeted Bruno Retailleau.

If for Bruno Retailleau and his colleague from Val d’Oise, the "constant fight against Islamic totalitarianism" led by Zineb El Rhazoui has "an enormous cost", the two senators have already managed to mobilize nearly 7,900 euros on Friday at 5:30 p.m. According to the two senators, "political Islam is constantly challenging the very foundations of our republican pact. We cannot afford to compromise or accommodate it."

Speaking about the clashes that occurred at the end of October in Mantes-la-Jolie, Zineb El Rhazoui had declared on CNews: "The police must shoot live ammunition in such cases". Comments that have sparked a wave of outrage even among her usual supporters.

Since then, Zineb El Rhazoui, who is also the target of "hundreds of hateful and degrading messages" on social networks, has decided to "prosecute, as much as possible, those who threaten her".
