Former Charlie Hebdo Journalist Sues Rapper Booba Over Social Media Clash
Saturday 9 November 2019, by
Zineb El Rhazoui asked her lawyer to file a complaint against rapper Booba. The latter had reacted to the controversial remarks of the former Charlie Hebdo journalist who was speaking about the violence that occurred in certain French neighborhoods.
Zineb El Rhazoui’s remarks had sparked a lively controversy last Tuesday about the violence that occurred in Mantes-la-Jolie and Chanteloup-les-Vignes. The former Charlie Hebdo journalist had thought that the police should shoot live ammunition at the protesters, citing the method used by the American police in a similar situation.
Immediately after this sentence was launched on the CNews set, several Internet users including rapper Booba denounced the journalist’s remarks. "Let’s ruin the life of this stinking big shit," the rapper had written on his Instagram account. Booba also posted hashtags calling on Internet users to "punish" the "journalist", with the mention "#letspunishher".
This phase as well as the very violent hashtags that followed are not to the liking of Zineb El Rhazoui who has decided to file a complaint against the rapper.
"Following the new outpouring of hatred, insults and death threats received in recent days, Zineb El Rhazoui has asked me to file several complaints, including one against #Booba," the journalist’s lawyer announced on Twitter on Thursday.
