French Opposition Leader Calls for Stronger Morocco-France Ties, Citing 'Powerful' Bond

The president of the Les Républicains party, Éric Ciotti, called for the repair of past mistakes and criticized the lack of consideration for Morocco. In a statement to the press, Mr. Ciotti stressed the importance of the "very powerful" ties between Morocco and France, based on an indestructible and ancestral friendship. He also highlighted Morocco’s key role on the African continent and in the Maghreb, particularly in regulating migration flows.

Calling for the improvement of relations between Morocco and France, he pointed out that the current deterioration of relations was beneficial for no one. Ciotti expressed the desire of his political party to establish a partnership with the Rassemblement national des indépendants (RNI), in order to strengthen the common values and work together in harmony.

The Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, who is also the president of the RNI, in turn stressed the importance of improving the prospects for cooperation between the two parties and the two countries, noting that Morocco was an important partner for several European countries, and deploring the attitude of the European Parliament towards Morocco.

The two political leaders discussed issues related to relations between Europe, the European Parliament and the Moroccan Parliament, as well as migration issues. They reaffirmed the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two countries in various fields, and stressed the importance of Morocco as a key partner for Europe.
