French Muslims to Celebrate Eid al-Fitr on April 10, CFCM Announces

The French Council of the Muslim Faith (CFCM) announced on Monday, April 1 the date of Eid al-Fitr marking the end of the month of Ramadan which began on March 11 in France.

French Muslims will soon celebrate the Eid al-Fitr holiday, which marks the end of the month of Ramadan. According to the French Council of the Muslim Faith (CFCM), the day of Eid al-Fitr corresponds this year to Wednesday, April 10, 2024. "In accordance with scientific data, the conjunction of the new moon of the month of Shawwal 1445H will take place on April 8, 2024 at 8:21 pm (Paris time). According to the calculation criteria adopted by the CFCM in 2013, the visibility of the new moon will be impossible on the same day, everywhere in the world. Also, the French Council of the Muslim Faith (CFCM), announces that: Wednesday, April 10, 2024 is the day of Eid Al Fitr of the year 1445H," indicates the Muslim organization in a press release.

The CFCM also announced that the Zakat Al Fitr, is set this year at 9 euros per person. "This amount is an approximate estimate and results from the application of the religious rule which takes into account both the giver and the recipient," it specifies. And to specify: "This Zakat is reserved exclusively for the poor regardless of their religious affiliation and cannot be used, for example, as aid to a mosque. To avoid any confusion, mosques that seize this opportunity to collect funds for their own financing must inform donors and maintain separate cash registers."
