French Man's Disappearance in Morocco Remains Unsolved After One Year

A year ago, a French resident suddenly disappeared. Leaving his home on the night of April 10, 2024 in Rabat, he has not given any sign of life since. An extensive search operation had been set up in Morocco and France... Without success...

The hopes of finding Clément Besneville are dwindling. This 30-year-old Frenchman who would have left his home, an apartment located on Boulevard Laalou, in the heart of the old medina, around 10 pm on April 10, 2024, remains untraceable. His father is unaware of Clément’s possible destination or the circumstances of his disappearance. According to one of his Moroccan friends, based in France, the young man "would have asked him to send him certain documents necessary for the regularization of his stay in Morocco," reports Assabah.

Is this a track to be favored? After his disappearance, Clément’s personal effects (identity papers, computer and electronic tablet) were still in his apartment. This discovery made by the judicial police elements rules out the planning of a prolonged absence. Another element: Clément was supposed to sign, the day after his disappearance, a lease for a restaurant in the Agdal district. But his parents were not aware of it.

The family reported Clément’s disappearance to the French and Moroccan authorities after unanswered messages via WhatsApp. The close collaboration between the two countries and the multiple trips of his relatives to Morocco have not, for the time being, been fruitful. According to Clément’s father, the Regional Brigade of the Judicial Police would have discovered traces of blood belonging to his son, as well as a broken mirror in the bathroom of his apartment. It remains to be determined whether it is a crime or not.
