French Father’s Desperate Plea: Son Vanishes in Rabat, Authorities Urged to Act

Clément Besneville, a 29-year-old Frenchman, has been missing in Rabat since April 2024. His father, Didier, without news of him since then, is asking the French and Moroccan authorities to do everything in their power to find him.
Didier has not heard from his son, Clément, who moved to Rabat 14 months ago. On Friday, he urged the Moroccan and French authorities to intensify the search to find him. "I’m looking for my son. I want to find my son. And I feel like no one cares," Didier said, noting that he had already written to President Emmanuel Macron and King Mohammed VI.
His son Clément, then 29 years old, had moved into an apartment near the sea in Rabat at the beginning of April 2024. He was planning to open a pizzeria and was supposed to sign a lease on April 15. But he has not given any sign of life since that date. On April 25, his relatives reported his disappearance to the gendarmerie in Cély-en-Bière, in Seine-et-Marne. The case was then referred to the competent French and Moroccan authorities, as reported by Le Parisien.
The regional judicial police brigade in Rabat confirms that Clément disappeared on April 10, around 10:30 pm, and that an investigation is ongoing. The young man left all his personal belongings (identity papers, computer, phone, cash, glasses) in his apartment. Since July 2024, the investigation has been entrusted to the Casablanca brigade. It is ongoing, as the father of the missing person was assured "15 days ago".
In early March, the family’s lawyer filed a complaint for kidnapping and sequestration with the Melun (Seine-et-Marne) public prosecutor’s office. The collected elements were transmitted to the Moroccan authorities at their request, the public prosecutor’s office indicated on Friday. "I have no support at all," lamented Didier Besneville, who on Thursday launched an SOS via the National Association Tiphaine for the Search of Missing Persons Abroad (ANTRED), to find his son.
