French Far-Right Figure Zemmour Accused of Misrepresenting Quran in Islam Debate

"During his latest debate with philosopher Michel Onfray, the potential French presidential candidate allowed himself to invent a fallacious version of Quranic verse 5:32, claiming that the Quran legitimizes the assassination of any person who would contravene the law of Allah or offend Allah," the CFCM said in its statement.

Condemning these repeated attacks, the Council took care to recall that "the Quran qualifies any assassination as a crime against humanity and considers any assistance to a person in danger as a gift of life for humanity."

Furthermore, the CFCM called on all the living forces, imbued with peace and justice, and guarantors of the unity and cohesion of our country, to be extremely vigilant in the face of these discourses that glorify hatred and discord.
